Practical Pistol is a dynamic competitive discipline run in accordance with both IPSC and UKPSA Rules and regulations

UNITED KINGDOM PRACTICAL SHOOTING ASSOCIATION

INTERNATIONAL PRACTICAL SHOOTING CONFEDERATION
Its core principles are balancing Accuracy Power and Speed. This is reflected in its Latin motto – DVC (Diligentia Vis Celeritias)

Matches are made up of various courses of fire (stages), each with its own unique layout. These are designed to test the shooters’ ability to plan and execute a winning formula. All stages will ultimately be aimed at testing certain individual aspects of the discipline.

Scoring
This uses a hit factor system, where points acquired are divided by the time taken to complete the course/stage.
Procedural errors are applied when competitors violate specific rules or gain unfair advantages.
Miss penalty’s and hitting No shoot targets also incur score penalty’s
Practiscore and Shootnscore-it are the default digital based scoring systems.

Targets
These are either paper or steel
The paper targets are Approved IPSC style and come in three various sizes, Full, Mini and Micro
They have 3 scoring zones each awarding a point value ranging from 5 – 1 point
The steel targets used are either round or square.
IPSC poppers or Mini poppers are also allowed. All these steel targets have a fixed 5-point value

Equipment
To participate you will require a holster and belt.
Various makes are available.

Divisions and Classes
You can enter in various divisions, and each has its own specific requirements and hence appeals differently to each competitor.

Currently in the UK you have variety of different makes models of both LBP and LBR to suit most individuals’ preferences.
Safety
Each Competitor runs every stage on a one-to-one basis with an RO (Range Officer)

The Club regularly holds national competitions, which sees competitors from many UK clubs attend the ranges. These matches bring in revenue and help to promote the clubs PR. The HPRPC PP shooters have achieved podium places at many national and international events.

Under current UK Firearms Law you cannot Lend/Borrow or Hire a Section 1, LBP (Long Barrel Pistol) or LBR ( Long Barrel Revolver).
If you do not possess one on your current FAC then you will not be able to participate but do feel free to come along and watch.
If you think this discipline may be of interest to you, or if you have any further questions, feel free to contact the clubs discipline captain for further details.
