Secretaries Update 14th June 2020
Covid-19 latest update:
Hello everyone I hope that you are all safe and well.
We are almost ready to reopen the club on the limited pre-booked system that I mentioned in my last update. Our risk assessment is in place and a Phase One rule book has been prepared to guide you through what you should be doing on the range.
This weekend, the clubs Committee has been reviewing the new system and it has been decided to delay by a few days the re-opening while tests are carried out by the clubs training officer and maintainace officer and myself to see if we have missed anything in the procedures that you will need to follow when using the range. The delay should be short and with a little luck you will find a copy of the new Phase One rules on this website by midweek.
The Phase One rules explain how you obtain booking codes, and by emailing the new dedicated address contained in these rules you will be giving the club your assurance that you are prepared to follow them. You could be asymptomatic so your understanding and compliance with them is of great importance given the effects that you might suffer or pass onto other members should you not take sufficient care with your range hygiene.
The ranges now look magnificent thanks to the enormous amount of work done by the clubs maintenance officer Tim Gardener and his band of socially distancing helpers. In addition to the 500+ trees planted and watered every other day, the 100yd, 50m and 25m ranges have all had their stop butts sieved and cleaned and new sleeper stop butt retention walls have been built on the 100yd and 25m. The area around the 25m range has been excavated to prevent the rotting of the firing shed timbers and the far end of the 25 is having new supports put in to replace the rotten ones. The roof has been cleaned and repaired including new sections of roofing timbers and fascias and new firing points on the right hand bay will now keep your feet dry in winter at 10m, 15m and 20m. The area behind the 100yd range has been cleared of bramble and scrub and a new privet hedge has been planted at the front of the car park. The bracken has been ruthlessly attacked and we think you will all be very pleased with what you see.
As some of you know Tim runs a shooting business called Firing Solutions and he has been unable to prepare for and run his stands at this years various shooting shows. What he has done is to give that time to the club. If you would like to thank him can I suggest you contact him with inquiries about any shooting kit you might want to purchase. Tim runs the club shop and the club will also benefit from any purchase you might make. Its good to help those that are helping all of us.
So not long to go now, please just keep watching the website for a further update in the next few days.
Stay safe
Rod Philpott
Hon. Secretary HPRPC
