Headley Park Tier 4 update 2020/21

Dear members,

I had not anticipated writing to you again so soon but in the ever changing Covid world I find it necessary to do so. As you are all no doubt aware the ranges along with the South East of England has now been moved into Tier 4.

The essential message of Tier 4 is “Stay at Home”. However Tier 4 does allow for people to meet up with one other person in an outdoor location and thus we will be able to offer some limited shooting practice on our ranges. Martin and I have been through the club's Risk Assessment and updated it in light of Tier 4 regulations and as a result only two people will be allowed to shoot at any given time on the 25m and 50m ranges. All shooting on the 25m and 50m will take place forward of the firing sheds to ensure compliance with the outdoor meeting rules. If you are shooting on your own you may continue to use the normal firing point as you will not be meeting anyone. The Pit range is still available to book but please remember that you must have two of you present in order to use The Pit and comply with the range orders. The 100yds will also be available for booking but only with a single user at any given time.

To maximise the shooting opportunities for members I am in the process of amending Eventbrite so that it will offer 4 one hour shooting sessions with 30minute changeovers. This should be updated by January 1st 2021. All organised shoots are now cancelled until further notice as only limited practice sessions can be offered within the Tier 4 restrictions. These new proceedures are an update to the existing Covid rules that are currently in place for the ranges and you must ensure that you continue to follow the earlier guidance given. (eg wearing gloves, handling target frames cleaning shooting tables, etc).

You should have now all received your renewal packs through the post from Martin and we will keep the gate code in its 2020 setting until the end of January when it will change to the one shown on your 2021 membership cards. The club also has a legal requirement to inform the Police of anyone who ceases to be a member so please ensure you get your renewal paperwork back to Martin in good time. If we receive your renewal for any reason after the Police have been notified you will need to start as a probationary member again so its a good thing to get the renewal done promptly.

2020 has been a challenging year for us and I am quite sure the first half of 2021 will continue to present us all with further problems until sufficient numbers of vaccinations have been carried out but at least you will be able to make use of your club and do some shooting practice under the Tier 4 rules. Here is to a better 2021, good shooting,

Rod
